from left-to-right:Mike Drindak[drums] Eli McNett[bass] Damian David[vocals/guitar] Whiskey Project Mark Twain said that “[t]oo much of anything is bad, but too much of good whiskey is barely enough.” Like Twain’s thoughts on whiskey, too much of Whiskey Project is “barely enough” to satisfy the musical palate. Surging forth from Schenectady, New York, Whiskey Project is the vibrant combination of the talents of three men who have known each other from their boyhood musical beginnings. After years of treading along their own paths, they have come back together and merged their individual spirits into the resonant groove of Americana, Rock, and Roots music that defines the band. Whiskey Project pulls sound from the greats of Blues, Country, Punk, and Rock to create smooth songs and a style touched by hints of Wilco, the Pixies, Will Ray, and the Old 97’s. In the summer of 2010, the band played their inaugural concert at the Down East Country Fest in Whitneyville, Maine. Whiskey Project opened the festival which hosted eight different acts including The Johnny Hiland Band and Michael Peterson. In 2011, they are set to play at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, and will use that performance as their launching point for a strong tour of concerts in New York, Boston, and other cities of the northeast. The band is currently recording their first series of music which they plan to release over the next 24 months through digital distribution outlets. During that period, Whiskey Project will release new music every few months in order to give fans successive tastes of their work rather than holding out on them for the big splash of a traditional album release. Although the members of Whiskey Project spring from different backgrounds, they share a passion which draws them together like a good whiskey oils the gears of a long conversation. Damian David, frontman, lead guitarist, and former frontman of Boston’s 4” Stud, is a veteran of the music industry with a voice both sharp and captivating; Eli McNett, bassist, brings his laid-back and focused personality to the underlying rhythms of the band’s songs; and Mike Drindak, drummer and Iraq war veteran, smacks down a back beat that alternates between gentle and explosive. With a growing music catalogue containing the poignant and solid love song, “In This Room”, and an original take on the Pixies’ classic, “Where is My Mind?”, Whiskey Project is poised to achieve a productive and successful year along their new and promising music career. |
